Character Information Name: Scott Summers Age: 19 Fandom: X-Men First Class, a subset of Marvel Comics Major: Aeronautics and World History(Focus on Tactics) Dorm Room Desired: Tudor, Suite 104, Room 104b Class: Freshman Occupation: Works at Elite Comics? Point In Fandom Taken From: Post Series 2 Brief History: Scott Summers was born to Major Christopher Summers, a test pilot for the U.S. Air Force, and his wife Katherine. They were flying home from vacation when their plane was attacked by aliens. To save their lives, Katherine pushed Scott and his brother Alex out of the plane with the only available parachute. Scott suffered a head injury upon landing, thus seemingly forever preventing him from controlling his mutant power by himself.
With their parents presumed dead, the authorities separated the two boys. Alex was adopted, but Scott was in a coma for a year. When he recovered, he was refused information on his brother. He was placed in an orphanage in Nebraska that was secretly controlled by his future enemy, the evil geneticist called Mister Sinister.
As a teenager, Scott came into the foster care of Jack Winters, a mutant criminal known as the Jack O'Diamonds. After Scott began to suffer from severe headaches he was sent to a specialist who discovered that lenses made of ruby quartz corrected the problem. Soon after, Scott's mutant power first erupted from his eyes as an uncontrollable blast of optic force. The blast demolished a crane, causing it to drop its payload toward a terrified crowd. Scott saved lives by obliterating the object with another blast, but the bystanders believed that he had tried to kill them and rallied into an angry mob. Scott fled, escaping on a freight train.
Winters sought to use Scott's newfound talent in his crimes, and physically abused the young boy when he initially refused. However, Scott's display of power had attracted the attention of the mutant telepath Professor Charles Xavier, who teamed up with F.B.I. agent Fred Duncan in their mutual attempt to find Scott. Scott was rescued from Winters' clutches and was enlisted by Xavier as the first member of the X-Men, a team of young mutants who trained to use their powers in the fight for human/mutant equality.
As Cyclops, Scott became deputy leader of the X-Men. While he was a skilled tactician, his social skills were lacking. Scott had fallen in love with his teammate Jean Grey, but his reserved demeanor prevented him from expressing his feelings for her for years. When Xavier's other original recruits left the fold following an encounter with the sentient island-being Krakoa, Cyclops considered staying on as deputy leader of the new team. Within a few weeks however, he realized he did not fit in with either the new way things were being done, or with the new team. He resigned and headed to college, despite protests from the Professor. Character Information Name: Scott Summers Age: 19 Fandom: X-Men First Class(A sub-set of Marvel Comics) Major: Business and Aeronautics Dorm Room Desired: (Tudor, Suite 104, Room a) Class: (Freshman) Point In Fandom Taken From: just after the end of X-Men First Class Finals Brief History: Born to Katherine and Christopher Summers, Scott was one of two brothers who were both born mutants, though neither showed signs of it until years later. When the two lost their parents in a mysterious plane accident, they were tossed into an orphanage and split up, Alex being adopted early, and Scott spending more time there, because of a medical condition caused in the accident.
Eventually entering the foster program, Scott manifested his mutant abilities when he was a teen, finding he could create force beams from his eyes. But once they manifested, he learned he could not turn them off. Found by a geneticist who was also a mutant, he was given glasses made of a material that absorbed and blunted the energy from his eyes, allowing him to live and move around.
Attending the school created by Professor Xavier, who had found him, he met other mutants like himself, and trained to use his powers, and to become more normal, but when trouble threatened, Scott and the others rose to the occasion, donning costumes, and calling themselves the X-men. Again and again, over the course of several years, they waged battle against the secret and not so secret forces that would do harm to others. But when they had graduated, and faced a fearsome menace, requiring the recruitment of new mutants to the team to beat it, most of the team chose to leave. After hesitating, Scott chose to do so as well, seeking to find himself outside the X-Men, pursue a college degree, and maybe hook up with a childhood sweetheart.
